While the U.S. economy was roaring—thanks in large part to the tech boom—I decided to begin my business career by attending one of the finest business programs in the country at one of the world's best universities—the Stern School of Business at New York University. When I graduated in 1999, the world was mine to conquer. At least I thought so.

After leaving NYU, I suffered through two layoffs in my first year. This was very discouraging for me, as I had worked very hard to get to where I was, and at this point I could not see anything positive on the horizon.

After going on many interviews for a variety of positions, I was offered a job at First Investors Corporation. Although I had been trained to work for a standard nine-to-five company, I had found that kind of environment very limiting. You can work very hard and be very committed to your job, but not be guaranteed a future with the company. I needed to work for a company where my individual performance mattered. First Investors would give me the opportunity to choose my own path and decide my own fate.

From the beginning, my family has been the backbone of my academic and professional success. My family gave me moral support when things were tough and helped me gain business contacts to grow my business. Having the support of my family is very important to me, and I truly appreciate all their help.

I am very committed to what I do. Helping people meet their financial goals and dreams is very rewarding for me. These goals range from helping a family save money for their children to attend a top college or helping newlyweds save money for their first home. These dreams include helping people ensure that their family is financially taken care of when they are gone to helping an individual save money for early retirement. These experiences are those of real people, with real goals that are made real by the opportunities that I provide.
