Conrad Charak > Registered Representative"I can only see bright things ahead for the clients and representatives of this great firm."
When I graduated from New York University in the spring of 1976, I was not looking for a job; I was looking for a career. I was seeking a place where, if I worked hard, I could be of service to others, earn a good living and have the flexibility to enjoy it. I felt that Wall Street was the last great economic opportunity in the world. It's a place where a person could come with no prior training, no clients and no money, and with perseverance, build a rewarding and lifelong career. First Investors Corporation was the perfect place for me. Everyone I met was interested in my success and was willing to help me. After I passed my licensing exams and received my representative number, I was essentially paid by a machine. That machine didn't care whether I was young or old, a man or a woman. It only cared that I worked hard. From the beginning, I was interested in pursuing a career in management, and my manager encouraged me at every turn. He got me started on personal recruiting over 30 years ago, and it's something I still enjoy doing today. First Investors also brought me in touch with my wife. I met her when she worked across the hall from our offices. We were married in 1984 and bought our home the next year. Then the kids came. As my family grew and my children got older, I realized how ideal my career at First Investors was. In addition to providing an above-average income, it afforded me the flexibility to spend time with my family. I remember being the only father able to go on class trips, as well as the shows and sporting events that my children participated in. When the time came for college, we were able to celebrate with parties and happiness, not sorrow and regret. I now understood how our clients felt when they were able to send their kids to college with the funds we helped them to accumulate. Looking back at the past three decades at First Investors Corporation, I feel fortunate that I was able to find a firm whose goal was not to be the biggest, but the best. To put the client first is a simple idea, but one that many firms have lost track of today. Today, the firm continues to grow and its commitment to clients and representatives has never been stronger. For the next thirty years, I can only see bright things ahead for the clients and representatives of this great firm. |
