I graduated from the University of Oregon in 2002 with a degree in Business Administration and Finance. I was young and ambitious—but had no idea how to turn my enthusiasm into the life and career that I dreamed of having.

I believe success is achieved through several factors, including: putting in hard work, receiving great support and training, and making the most of all opportunities. I have always been a hard worker. I strive to live by a motto my father taught me, "If you are going to do something, do it to the best of your ability."

After interviewing with several firms, it was First Investors that gave me the strong support and training I needed. I feel fortunate to have started my career in an office that had many successful representatives and managers. They demonstrated what can be achieved by always putting the client's needs first—a philosophy I used to develop my own client base. I recognized that by learning from my colleagues and using their model, I could follow a path that had been cleared by their many years of hard work.

From the beginning, First Investors was a great fit for me because of its training program, management opportunities and the Company's ethical culture. Early on, I knew that this was not only the industry I wanted to work in, but also the Company I would retire from. This knowledge and security allowed me to not only focus on what I wanted to accomplish each day, but five, ten, and even thirty years down the road.

In 2006, I opened a new office and became a Division Manager. My wife has been a tremendous help throughout the process, assisting with recruiting efforts and other office tasks. I also have the support of a wonderful group of representatives. I am very proud of their hard work, as their efforts have allowed us to make great strides together. Considering their varied talents, I am looking forward to our office accomplishing great things in the future. I would like us to be the top office when it comes to New Representative Development, and a top-ten office overall.

From the early stages of my career until today, I have done my utmost to improve myself and to consistently do my very best. I am always working toward a set of goals—I feel that without them, you're just working off of a checklist. I also attribute my achievements to the people around me. I've made an effort to surround myself with successful individuals and to learn from their example. I know how critical it is to have a support system—they help me through the tough times and celebrate with me during the good.

A severe recession, a steep stock market downturn, unprecedented volatility, and high-profile investment scam stories have damaged the public's confidence in our nation's financial institutions, and left people wondering what to do. This loss of trust and direction comes at a time when Americans are more responsible than ever for securing their own financial future.
